Instruments and Equipments:

Data loggers:

The data logger is used to process the electrical signals received from different sensors for pre-defined time periods and record them as time series for retrieval at a later time.

The types of data loggers used at Wind Department are:

Masts:

The function of the mast is to carry and fix the sensors to the desired height. Wind Department has two different types of masts: tubular & Lattice (see pictures) with different heights ranging from 10 m up to 60 m .

Sensors:

Depending on the type of sensor, it converts wind speed, wind direction, temperature and/or solar radiation to electrical signals. Wind Department uses the following types of sensors in the measuring systems:

Softwares:

The softwares used for data retrieval and pre-evaluation are related to the data loggers used in the measuring systems such as:

Power Electronic Laboratory:

NERC possesses a power electronic laboratory which is equipped with the latest instrumentation and data evaluation systems that are capable of simulating the performance of PV systems 50 W-10 KW peak and wind energy systems up to 20 KW and performing the required tests in a very short period of time.
