Study Tour to Sahab and Karak Municipalities

In June 2025, meetMED – Together We Switch to Clean Energy project, represented by ADENE - Agência para a Energia and the Royal Scientific Society الجمعيّة العلميّة الملكيّة organized a study tour for municipalities' exchange between Portugral and Jordan. Portuguese Delegation from Lisboa E-Nova and ADENE - Agência para a Energia accompanied by RSS team visited Sahab municipality and Karak municipality in Jordan. The visit included sharing insights about the local development initiatives in Jordan and Lisbon and the potential for future growth in the region.
Sahab and Karak municipalities presented the projects that have been developed in the two municipalities.
The study tour also included site visits to those pioneer development projects including: the Green Area in Al-Lajjoun that is owned by Karak municipality comprising of Compost factory, Farm for industrial wood, Solar energy plant (wheeling PV), Plant nursery and Wastewater treatment plant.
The ADENE - Agência para a Energia, Lisboa E-Nova, National Energy Research Centre (NERC) and Sahab municipality and Karak municipality teams visited other cultural and educational buildings like the Museum of Folk Life, Al-Karak Castle and Al-Karak Secondary School for boys.
In Sahab, the delegation visited Sahab Secondary School, Sahab Walkway, Sahab Amman Main Street and Prince Hassan Street.
The study tours, visits and exchanges were a great success and inspiring; they have provided great insights into experiences, good practices and know-how that will be useful in the future and will lead to new forms of cooperation among Lisboa, Sahab and Al-Karak.
